Over the past few years wines from Argentina, especially Malbec wines, have become all the rage, and with popularity comes rising prices. Here is a Malbec wine that definitely over-delivers for the price.

Marcus James Malbec is 100 percent Malbec with grapes sourced from selected vineyards throughout the Mendoza region. This wine is dark garnet in color with aromas of plum and black raspberry and hints of violets, followed by flavors of blackberry and cocoa and a spicy finish that is clean and balanced. This wine would pair beautifully with pork tenderloin, smoked chicken and corn on the cob from the grill. This wine retails around $5.99 and I give it a rating of 86 points and a “Must Buy.” So if you are looking for a really nice everyday drinking wine you can’t go wrong with this little beauty from Argentina.

WINE FESTIVAL REMINDER: The sixth annual Senior Junior Forum Red River Wine Festival is from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the J.S. Bridwell Agricultural Center. With more than 40 different Texas wines, unique beers in the Beer Garten, food and merchandise booths, silent auction and live music, there is truly something for everyone.
